48G: Content of co-operation arrangements

You could also call this:

“Rules for agreements between organisations in different countries”

When organisations work together across countries, they need to have an agreement. This agreement is called a co-operation arrangement. Here’s what it needs to include:

The agreement must say which overseas organisation it’s about. It also needs to list the foreign laws that the overseas organisation can use to ask for information from New Zealand. The agreement must explain how the overseas organisation can use the information they get, and how they will keep it safe.

The agreement can also include other things. It might say that the overseas organisation needs to pay back the New Zealand organisation for the cost of getting the information. It can also have other rules about sharing information or helping with investigations.
