Fair Trading Act 1986

Safety of services

36: Compliance with services safety standards

You could also call this:

“Follow safety rules when providing services”

If someone makes rules about how to do services safely, you need to follow those rules. These rules are called ‘services safety standards’.

When you provide a service to people, or tell them you can do it, or even just advertise that you can do it, you must follow the safety rules for that service.

Sometimes there might be more than one set of safety rules for a service. If that happens, you only need to follow one of those sets of rules, but you must follow at least one of them.

Remember, these rules are there to keep everyone safe when services are being done.
