Fair Trading Act 1986

Product safety

33: Importation of certain goods prohibited

You could also call this:

“You can't bring some things into New Zealand that aren't allowed”

You are not allowed to bring certain goods into New Zealand. These are goods that would break the rules if they were supplied in New Zealand. The law treats these goods as if they are already on the list of things you can’t bring into the country. This is covered in section 96 of the Customs and Excise Act 2018. The rules in that Act apply to these goods too.
