Fair Trading Act 1986

Unfair conduct - Unfair practices

17: Offering gifts and prizes

You could also call this:

“Don't trick people with fake gifts or prizes when selling things”

You must not offer gifts, prizes, or free items if you don’t plan to give them out as promised. This rule applies when you are selling goods or services, or when you are selling or giving someone rights to land. It also applies when you are advertising these things. The law says you can’t trick people by offering free things that you won’t actually provide.
