Fair Trading Act 1986

5: Application of Act to Crown corporations

You could also call this:

“The law applies to government businesses just like other businesses”

This law talks about how the Fair Trading Act 1986 applies to certain government organisations in New Zealand.

You should know that this Act applies to any organisation that is part of the New Zealand government and is involved in trade. These organisations are called Crown corporations.

If one of these Crown corporations does something wrong under this Act, they can be taken to court. This is allowed even if other laws or rules might say they can’t be.
