Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990

Smoking and vaping prohibited in workplaces and public areas

20: Saving of powers to make bylaws

You could also call this:

"Councils can make their own rules to protect people from tobacco smoke"

If you are a local authority, you can still make bylaws to protect people from tobacco smoke, even if those bylaws are stronger than the rules in this Part. You can make bylaws that provide more protection from tobacco smoke under section 145(b) of the Local Government Act 2002. This means you have the power to make your own rules to keep people safe from tobacco smoke.
