Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990

Packaging and labelling of regulated products - Packaging and labelling requirements

52: Messages and information required for regulated product package

You could also call this:

"What information must be on packets of certain products, like cigarettes, to help keep you safe and informed?"

When you buy a regulated product, the package must show certain information. This includes messages about the harmful effects of using the product, and the good things that happen when you stop using it. The package must also show pictures that relate to these messages.

The package must display information about the product's constituents and their quantities if it is a smoked tobacco product. This information helps you understand what is in the product.

If the regulations require it, the package must contain a leaflet with more information about the product. This leaflet must have information about the harmful effects of using the product and the good things that happen when you stop using it. If the product is for smoking, the leaflet must also list the constituents and additives in the product, and their quantities.
