“How money from betting charges and fines is used to help racing and reduce gambling problems”

The designated authority must use the money it gets from consumption charges for a few different things. These include paying for the costs of running the consumption charges scheme, helping to prevent and reduce harm from gambling, protecting the fairness of racing and sports betting, and supporting the future of New Zealand racing and sport.

When the designated authority gets money from penalties, it must use this to pay for running the schemes for betting information use charges and consumption charges.

The designated authority has to give out the money from consumption charges to one or more people. The people who get this money and how much they get is decided by rules set out in regulations.

The designated authority can make one payment to cover two or more of the purposes mentioned earlier, like preventing gambling harm and supporting New Zealand racing and sport.
