106: Declaration of New Zealand sporting events

“How Sport NZ says which sports events are official New Zealand events”

Sport and Recreation New Zealand can officially say that certain sports events in New Zealand are “New Zealand sporting events”. They can do this for two types of events: ones run by New Zealand national sports groups, or ones that are part of a sports betting agreement.

Before they can say an event is a New Zealand sporting event, Sport and Recreation New Zealand needs to talk to TAB NZ. If the event is run by a New Zealand national sports group, Sport and Recreation New Zealand also needs to get permission from that group.

When Sport and Recreation New Zealand decides an event is a New Zealand sporting event, they have to put this information on their website for everyone to see.
