Offshore betting charges and other matters - Offshore betting charges - Designated authority

108: Functions and powers of designated authority

You could also call this:

“The designated authority manages betting charges and penalties”

The designated authority has specific jobs and powers related to two schemes: betting information use charges and consumption charges.

For the betting information use charges scheme, the designated authority’s job is to make sure people follow the rules. If someone doesn’t follow the rules, the authority can give them a penalty notice. The money from these penalties is used in a way that the law says.

For the consumption charges scheme, the designated authority’s job is to run the scheme. This includes collecting the charges and giving penalty notices to people who don’t pay or don’t follow the other rules. The authority also uses the money from these charges and penalties in the way the law says.

The designated authority has other powers too. These powers are written in this part of the law or in other rules made under this part.
