128: Other regulations

You could also call this:

“Rules for managing different parts of horse racing in New Zealand”

The Governor-General can make rules about different parts of the racing industry in New Zealand. These rules can be about:

  • How to decide if a racing club can use its property for other things.
  • How to run the racing integrity system, including how the Racing Integrity Board works and how they choose people to make decisions about racing issues.
  • How much money should be given to New Zealand sports organisations and Sport and Recreation New Zealand.
  • Any other things that are needed to make the Racing Industry Act work properly.

Before making rules about money for sports organisations, the Minister in charge must talk to the Minister for Sport and Recreation.

These rules are called ‘secondary legislation’, which means they are made under the power of the main law (the Racing Industry Act) and have to be published in a special way.
