“If someone is accused of a crime, they can be found guilty of trying to do it even if they didn't finish it.”
This section of the law, called ‘Attempt proved when crime is charged’, used to be part of the Crimes Act 1961. However, it no longer exists. The government removed this section on 1 July 2013. This means that if you’re looking for information about how attempts at crimes are dealt with when someone is charged with a crime, you’ll need to look at other parts of the law or ask a lawyer for help.
