Crimes against public order - Treason and other crimes against the Sovereign and the State
78D: Search without warrant
You could also call this:
“This old rule let police look for evidence without asking a judge first, but it's not used anymore.”
This part of the law, called ‘Search without warrant’, used to be part of the Crimes Act 1961. It was about treason and other crimes against the Sovereign and the State. However, this section no longer exists. It was removed on 1 October 2012 by another law called the Search and Surveillance Act 2012. This means that the rules that were once in this section are no longer in effect.
