Crimes Act 1961

Miscellaneous provisions

410: Regulations

You could also call this:

“Rules that explain how to follow and use the law”

The Governor-General can make regulations to help this Act work properly. These regulations are rules that explain how to use the Act.

The Governor-General can make regulations about different things. They can decide what forms you need to use for legal proceedings related to this Act. They can also set the fees you have to pay for these proceedings.

The regulations can also say how much money interpreters and witnesses should get for their time and travel. They can set the costs that people involved in legal proceedings have to pay.

The Governor-General can make regulations about other things too, if the Act says they’re needed.

These regulations are called secondary legislation. This means they have to follow special rules about how they’re published, which you can find in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
