Classification and management of reserves - Management and control of reserves

29: Appointing a voluntary organisation to control and manage a reserve

You could also call this:

"The Minister can choose a group to help look after a Crown reserve and make decisions about how it's used."

The Minister can choose a voluntary organisation to help manage a reserve that belongs to the Crown. You can find out about this decision in the Gazette, which is like a special newspaper that publishes official notices. The organisation has to follow the rules of the Reserves Act 1977 and any extra conditions that are specified.

The Minister's decision can be changed or cancelled at any time, and this will also be published in the Gazette. The organisation will manage the reserve according to its classification, which means it will be used for the purpose it was intended. This helps to make sure the reserve is used in a way that is consistent with its original purpose.
