If you own private land that is protected, the Minister might help pay some of the rates on it. This can happen if there is an agreement that lets the public visit and inspect the land, or if the land is special and people with a relevant interest can visit. The Minister can agree with you to pay some or all of the rates using money from Parliament.

The Minister can do this if the agreement is fair and the land is protected under section 76. You can find more information about this in section 76 by looking at the link to section 76. The Minister will use money that Parliament has set aside for this purpose to help pay the rates.
