The Minister can appoint trustees to look after a reserve that belongs to the Crown. You can find out about these appointments in the Gazette, which is like a special newspaper. The Minister can also change or cancel these appointments at any time.

The trustees have to follow the rules in this Act when they manage the reserve. They also have to follow any extra conditions that are specified in the notice. The Minister wants to make sure the reserve is used for the right purpose.

The trustees can be a group of people or a Maori Trust Board that is allowed to manage land and spend money on it. They have to work according to the rules and conditions set by the Minister. This helps the Minister make sure the reserve is used in the best way possible.
