The Minister can let someone take plants, animals, rocks, minerals, or soil from a reserve for science or education. You need to be a qualified person with the right credentials to do this. The Minister will only let you take these things if it won't hurt the environment or the reserve.

The Minister can set conditions for taking these things. You can't take so many that it hurts the species or the environment. If you want to take animals, you must follow the rules in the Wildlife Act 1953.

You must not do anything that goes against the Wildlife Act or its rules when taking animals from a reserve.

49Taking of specimens

  1. provided that nothing in this section shall authorise the doing of anything with respect to fauna that would contravene anything in the Wildlife Act 1953 or in any regulations or Proclamation or notification under that Act.
