Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017

Contracts legislation - Minors’ contracts - Entering into contract with District Court’s approval

99: Persons who may apply

You could also call this:

“Who can ask the court to approve a contract for someone under 18”

You or someone else can ask the District Court to approve a contract that involves a minor (someone under 18 years old). The people who can make this request are:

The minor who wants to be part of the contract.

Any other person who will be part of the contract with the minor.

A guardian of the minor.

This means that if you’re a minor wanting to make a contract, or if you want to make a contract with a minor, or if you’re looking after a minor, you can ask the court to approve the contract.
