Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017

Other commercial matters - Bills of lading, sea waybills, and ship’s delivery orders - Liabilities under shipping documents

323: Regulations relating to network or other information technology

You could also call this:

“Rules for using computers and technology with important documents”

If you use a computer network or other technology to do things with important documents, there are special rules. The Governor-General can make these rules. These rules explain how to use this part of the law when you use technology to:

  • Create, sign, give, or move these important documents
  • Do other things with these documents

The Governor-General can change how this part of the law works when you use technology with these documents. They can also add new rules to help explain things better or to help people switch to using technology.

These rules are called “secondary legislation.” This means they are published in a special way so everyone can see them.
