Student Loan Scheme Act 2011

Preliminary matters, loan advances, and New Zealand-based and overseas-based borrowers - Determining whether borrowers are New Zealand-based or overseas-based - Borrowers must notify Commissioner of absence from and return to New Zealand

29: Borrower to notify Commissioner of return to New Zealand of more than 183 days

You could also call this:

"Tell the government when you return to New Zealand for more than 6 months"

If you have been living overseas and you come back to New Zealand, you need to tell the government about it. This is important if you're going to be in New Zealand for more than 183 days.

You should let the government know as soon as you can after you either become based in New Zealand or realise that you will be based in New Zealand. Whichever happens first, that's when you need to act.

When you tell the government, you need to give them two pieces of information. First, you need to tell them the date you came back to New Zealand. Second, you need to give them any other information they might need to figure out if you're now based in New Zealand.

Remember, it's your job to tell the government this information. They need to know so they can keep track of people who have student loans and where they're living.
