Student Loan Scheme Act 2011

Repayment obligations of borrowers - New Zealand-based borrowers' repayment obligations for salary or wages - Information and determinations

61: Information to show salary or wage deductions made

You could also call this:

“Employers must share details about student loan money taken from pay”

You need to know about a rule for employers or PAYE intermediaries who take money out of someone’s pay for student loans. The Commissioner of Inland Revenue can ask them for information about these deductions. Here’s what happens:

The Commissioner can ask for any information they need to figure out how much money was taken out. They can also set a date for when this information must be given.

When the Commissioner asks for this information, they have to write to the employer or PAYE intermediary to let them know.

The employer or PAYE intermediary then has to give the Commissioner the information they asked for. They need to do this in a way that the Commissioner is happy with, and they must do it by the date the Commissioner set.
