Student Loan Scheme Act 2011

Repayment obligations of borrowers - New Zealand-based borrowers' repayment obligations for salary or wages - Information and determinations

62: Commissioner must determine question about amount of salary or wage deductions

You could also call this:

"Commissioner helps decide how much to take from your pay for student loans"

If you're not sure how much money should be taken from your salary or wages for your student loan, you can ask the Commissioner for help. Your employer or the person who handles your pay can also ask the Commissioner this question.

When the Commissioner gets a request like this, they will work out how much should be taken from your pay, if anything at all. They will do this as quickly as they can. Once they've figured it out, they will tell your employer or the person who handles your pay in writing.

If you want to ask the Commissioner this question, you need to let them know in a special way. You can find out how to do this in section 211 of the law.
