Crown Entities Act 2004

Establishment and governance of Crown entities - Statutory entities - Appointment, removal, and conditions of members

29: Criteria for appointments or recommendations by responsible Minister

"How Ministers choose the right people for important jobs"

When a Minister is choosing people for a statutory entity, they must follow certain rules. They have to pick people who know what they are doing and can help the entity do its job. The Minister thinks about who would be good at helping the entity achieve its goals and do its work, and they choose people based on that.

The Minister also tries to choose people who are different from each other, so the group has a mix of people with different ideas and experiences. This is so the entity can make good decisions and work well for everyone. The Minister does this by following the rules set out in section 28 and other laws that apply.

You can think of it like picking a team for a project - the Minister wants to choose people who are good at what they do and can work well together to get the job done.
