If you want to enter a residence or you are already in a residence, the person in charge or a staff member can use a scanner to check you for prohibited items. They do this to find out if you have anything you are not allowed to have. You can be scanned if you want to enter or are already in the residence.

If the person in charge or a staff member thinks you might have a prohibited item, they can ask to pat you down to check, but only if you agree. They need to have a good reason to think you have something you should not have. You have to say yes to the pat-down search for it to happen.

If you do not want to be scanned or patted down, you might not be allowed to enter the residence, or you might be asked to leave if you are already inside. This is because the residence has rules to keep everyone safe. You can find more information about similar rules in the Public Safety Act by looking at section 99.
