The Governor-General can make special rules to help everyone get used to the new Health and Safety at Work Act 2015. These rules are called regulations. The Minister has to suggest these regulations first.

These regulations can do a few things to make the change to the new law easier:

They can add to or replace the rules in Schedule 1 that talk about how to switch to the new law.

For a short time, they can say that some parts of the new law don’t apply yet. They can also give special meanings to some words, or say that some old rules should still be used for a while.

The regulations can also do other things to make sure the change from the old laws to the new one goes smoothly.

But remember, these special rules can only be made or used for up to 2 years after this part of the law starts working.
