New Zealand law explained for everyone

179: Offence to hinder or obstruct inspector
or “It's illegal to interfere with an inspector's work”

You could also call this:

“Pretending to be a health and safety inspector is illegal”

You must not pretend to be an inspector if you are not one. This means you can’t act like you are an inspector or tell people that you are an inspector when you’re not. If you do this, you are breaking the law.

If you break this law and pretend to be an inspector, you could get in trouble. You might have to go to court, and if you are found guilty, you could be fined. The most money you might have to pay as a fine is $10,000.
