The Minister has to make a plan called the New Zealand Health Strategy. You can think of this plan as a guide to help keep people healthy and well. It will look at how healthy people are now and how the health system is working. The plan must include some important things, such as what is happening with people's health now and what might happen in the next 5 to 10 years. It will also look at what needs to be done to improve the health system over the next 5 to 10 years, including helping the people who work in healthcare. The plan can include other things too, not just these important points. The New Zealand Health Strategy is like a roadmap to help make sure people in New Zealand are healthy and well. You can expect it to change over time as new things are learned and new challenges come up. It will help guide the people and organisations who work in healthcare to make good decisions about how to keep people healthy.
