Health New Zealand must decide on areas called localities to arrange services. You need to know that Health New Zealand talks to local authorities and iwi-Māori partnership boards before making these decisions. They must make sure all of New Zealand is covered by a locality. Health New Zealand also has to ensure locality boundaries are consistent with regional arrangements, unless there are exceptional circumstances, and they have talked to local authorities and iwi-Māori partnership boards. They must make a list of all localities publicly available, including their geographical areas. You can find more information about regional arrangements in section 102. Health New Zealand can change the number or boundaries of localities at any time, as long as they follow the rules about talking to local authorities and iwi-Māori partnership boards, and making sure all of New Zealand is covered.
