56New Zealand Health Charter
For the purpose of supporting the achievement of the health sector principles, a New Zealand Health Charter must be made in accordance with section 57.
The charter is a statement of the values, principles, and behaviours that—
- health entities are expected to demonstrate; and
- workers throughout the health sector are expected to demonstrate—
- collectively, at an organisational level; and
- individually.

To avoid doubt, nothing in this section affects—
- the role of responsible authorities under section 118 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003; and
- existing professional codes and obligations.
