76Functions of NZBOS
The functions of NZBOS are—
- to manage the donation, collection, processing, and supply of blood, controlled human substances, and related or incidental matters; and
- to provide oversight and clinical governance of the organ donation system, to provide support to the transplantation system, and manage any related or incidental matters; and
- if it is an appointed entity, to perform the functions for which it is for the time being responsible under section 63 of the Human Tissue Act 2008; and
- to perform any other functions it is for the time being given by or under any enactment, or authorised to perform by the Minister by written notice to the board of NZBOS after consultation with it.
NZBOS must perform its functions in subsection (1)(a) and (b) in accordance with its statement of intent (including the statement of forecast service performance) and (subject to section 66) any directions given under the Crown Entities Act 2004.
The Minister must, as soon as practicable after giving a notice under subsection (1)(d), publish in the Gazette, and present to the House of Representatives, a copy of the notice.
In this section, appointed entity, blood, and controlled human substance have the same meanings as in section 55 of the Human Tissue Act 2008.
