The Minister has to make a plan called the Health of Disabled People Strategy. You will see this plan is used to help health organisations improve health outcomes for disabled people and their families. The plan must look at how health outcomes are currently for disabled people and how the health sector is performing. The plan also needs to think about what will happen in the medium and long term to affect the health of disabled people. It must set out what is important for services and health sector improvements for disabled people, including training for workers. This is not a complete list of what can be in the plan, as other things can be included too. The purpose of the Health of Disabled People Strategy is to guide health entities to improve health outcomes for you if you are disabled, and your family and whānau. You can expect the plan to help make things better for disabled people and their families. The Minister is in charge of making this plan happen.
