Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act 1987

Interpretation

2AC: Multiple employments of teachers

You could also call this:

“Teachers with multiple school jobs: How parental leave works for you”

If you’re a teacher working in more than one State school or integrated school within a 12-month period (or 6-month period), this law treats all those jobs as one job when figuring out your parental leave rights and benefits. This applies whether you work at these schools at the same time or one after the other.

The law defines some important terms for you to know:

A “board” is a group set up to run a school, as described in the Education and Training Act 2020.

An “integrated school” is the same as a “State integrated school” in the Education and Training Act 2020.

“State school” and “teacher” are defined the same way as in the Education and Training Act 2020.

This rule is more important than another rule called “section 2A” when it comes to parental leave for teachers.
