Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act 1987

Partner’s leave

20: Date of commencement of partner’s leave

You could also call this:

“When your partner's leave begins”

Your partner’s leave starts on different days depending on your situation. If your spouse or partner gives birth to a child, your leave begins on the day the baby is born. If you’re becoming a primary carer for a child in another way, your leave starts when your spouse or partner becomes the main caregiver for that child. Sometimes, your leave might start earlier or later than these dates. This can happen if it’s decided according to section 21 or section 22 of the law.
