In this part of the law, you’ll find some important words explained. These words are used when talking about people who worked during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The “COVID-19 response period” is a specific time. It started on 25 March 2020 and will end 3 months after the Epidemic Preparedness (COVID-19) Notice 2020 is no longer in effect.

“COVID-19 response work” means any work that happened during this COVID-19 response period, even if it was only for part of that time.

A “COVID-19 response worker” is a special term. Its exact meaning is explained in section 30JD of this law.

When this law talks about “parental leave”, it doesn’t include leave that a partner takes.

30JCInterpretation

  1. In this Part,—

    COVID-19 response period means the period starting on 25 March 2020 and ending 3 months after the date on which the Epidemic Preparedness (COVID-19) Notice 2020 expires or is revoked

      COVID-19 response work means work that occurs (all or in part) during the COVID-19 response period

        COVID-19 response worker has the meaning given in section 30JD

          parental leave does not include partner’s leave.
