This section explains how you can get parental leave payments if you have done some COVID-19 response work. If you haven’t received all your parental leave payments yet, you can apply for more after you finish your COVID-19 work.

You can get these payments if you’ve already applied for parental leave payments, then temporarily went back to work for COVID-19 response, and now you want to apply for more payments.

Your temporary return to work for COVID-19 response should not be longer than 12 weeks, and it should be one continuous period. However, a Labour Inspector can decide if a longer time or more than one period is okay.

When you’re ready to go back on parental leave after your COVID-19 work, you can apply to the department for more parental leave payments. In your application, you need to tell them when you’re going back on parental leave (or when you’ve already gone back). You also need to confirm that you’re a COVID-19 response worker, that you’re applying because of COVID-19 response work, and that you haven’t received all your parental leave payments yet.
