Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act 1987

COVID-19 response workers - Subsequent children

30JO: Parental leave within 6 months of end of previous period of parental leave in respect of another child

You could also call this:

“COVID-19 workers can take parental leave for a new baby soon after previous leave”

If you’re a COVID-19 response worker who has had a new baby, you can take parental leave even if it’s within 6 months of finishing parental leave for another child. This is different from the usual rule. You can do this as long as 6 months have passed since the end of when you would have taken parental leave if you hadn’t been doing COVID-19 response work. This special rule is in place to help COVID-19 response workers who might have had to delay their parental leave because of their important work during the pandemic.
