Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act 1987

Rights and obligations after commencement of parental leave

48: Workers employed to replace employees on parental leave

You could also call this:

“Temporary workers must be told about replacing someone on parental leave”

If you are hired to replace someone who is on parental leave, your employer must tell you some important things in writing before you start work. They need to let you know that your job is temporary and that you’re filling in for someone who is away on parental leave. They also have to tell you that the person you’re replacing might come back to work earlier than expected, as allowed by section 45 of the law. This means your temporary job might end sooner than you think.
