If you are part of an Auckland water organisation that is not a local authority, you have certain powers under the Local Government Act 1974. You can use these powers when dealing with wastewater services. The powers are outlined in sections of the Local Government Act 1974, including section 451 about diverting drainage works.

You also have powers under section 459 to require landowners to provide private drains in certain cases. Other powers include section 460 about constructing private drains through neighbouring properties.

You can use section 461 for further rules about private drains, section 462 to declare a private drain a public drain, section 467 about unlawful connections to private drains, and section 468 about tree roots blocking public drains.
