The board has some specific jobs to do. You need to know that the board must choose up to 2 people to be on some of the Auckland Council's committees. These committees help manage and take care of natural and physical resources. The board can also choose people to be on other committees if the Auckland Council asks them to.

The board must ask the Auckland Council what skills and experience they want the chosen people to have before making the appointments. When choosing people, the board must think about what the Auckland Council said they want. The board must also think about requests from the Auckland Council to take on some of their jobs.

If the board agrees to take on a job from the Auckland Council, they must do it. You can find more information about the law that governs this, the Local Government (Auckland Council) Amendment Act 2010, which added this provision to the law on 1 November 2010.
