If you are an Auckland water organisation and you owe money to the Auckland Council for water services infrastructure, you must pay back that debt. You also have to pay any interest that is owed. You have to pay back the debt even if something in section 56A says you do not have to. You can pay back the debt in parts, but you must finish paying it back within 5 years of when this rule starts. You must pay back the full amount by the end of the fifth year.

57AAuckland water organisation must repay debt to Auckland Council

  1. If, on the date on which this section comes into force, an Auckland water organisation owes a debt to the Auckland Council in respect of water services infrastructure, the Auckland water organisation must repay that debt, including any interest payable.

  2. An Auckland water organisation must repay a debt under subsection (1) despite anything in section 56A.

  3. The repayment—

  4. may be made by instalments; but
    1. must be paid in full no later than the close of the day that is 5 years after this section comes into force.
