If you are a director of a substantive council-controlled organisation and you get elected to be a member of the Auckland Council or a local board, you must resign from your job as a director before you start your new role. You cannot be a director and a member of the Council or local board at the same time. When you resign, you are giving up your position as a director so you can take up your new position as a member of the governing body of the Council or the local board.
