When you look at the Local Government (Auckland Council) Act 2009, you will see some extra information. This extra information is called a schedule. The schedule is titled 'Transitional, savings, and related provisions'. It has some rules that explain how certain parts of the law work.

You can find these rules in different parts of the schedule. For example, one part talks about the Local Government (Auckland Council) Amendment Act 2016. It says that if you are already a member of more than one local board, the new law will not affect you. This is explained in section 11AA.

Another part of the schedule used to talk about the Spatial Planning Act 2023, but this part has been repealed. This means it is no longer part of the law. The repeal happened on 23 December 2023, because of section 6 of the Resource Management (Natural and Built Environment and Spatial Planning Repeal and Interim Fast-track Consenting) Act 2023.
