The court can ask some witnesses to leave the courtroom during a hearing. You might be asked to wait outside until it's your turn to give evidence. The court wants to make sure witnesses don't hear what other people are saying before they give their own evidence, and it can make this decision on its own or because someone asked it to, and it can happen at any time during the hearing, as seen in similar laws like the one found at s 40.
