The Governor-General decides when some parts of the Criminal Procedure Act 2011 start. You can find these parts in sections like sections 5, 7, and 8. The Governor-General can choose different dates for different parts.

The rest of the Act starts on a date the Governor-General chooses. If a part has not started yet, it will start two years after the Act is approved. An order to start a part is a type of secondary legislation, which has its own rules, see Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019 for more information.
