192: Address for service
or “Company must have a New Zealand address for receiving official documents”

You could also call this:

“How to change where your company receives official documents”

If you run a company, you can change the address where official papers are sent to your company. This is called the ‘address for service’. Your company’s board can change this address whenever they want, as long as it follows the rules in your company’s constitution.

When you change the address, you need to tell the Registrar. You have to fill out a special form to do this. The Registrar is the person who keeps track of all the companies in New Zealand.

The new address doesn’t start being used right away. You have to wait at least 5 working days after you’ve told the Registrar. You can choose a date after those 5 days for the new address to start being used.

Remember, you can’t choose a date that’s earlier than 5 working days after you’ve told the Registrar about the change. This gives everyone time to update their records.
