Illustration for Family Proceedings Act 1980

You can register a maintenance order in New Zealand if it was made in a Commonwealth or designated country. This can happen in two ways: if a court in one of these countries made the order against someone, or if a court made a provisional order that was later confirmed in one of these countries. You register the order by filing a certified copy in the District Court in New Zealand, following the correct process.
