The Reserve Bank of New Zealand can do things that a grown-up can do. You can think of it like the Bank being able to make choices and take actions. The Bank has this power unless another law or rule says it cannot do something. The Bank's power to make choices is limited by other laws and rules. You can find more information about this by looking at other parts of this Act or other laws. The Bank's actions must follow these laws and rules. The law that says what the Bank can do is similar to a law from 2004, which you can find on the https://legislation.govt.nz/act/public/1986/0120/latest/link.aspx?id=DLM329931. This law helps explain what the Bank can and cannot do. It is an important part of understanding the Bank's role in New Zealand.
