The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has rules about sharing information. You need to know that the Bank can only share certain information if it is already public or if it is in a statistical form. The Bank can also share information if it is for a specific purpose, like doing its job, or if the person who gave the information says it is okay. The Bank can share information with someone who has a good reason to know it, but only if the Bank is sure the information will be kept secret. You should be aware that Bank staff must only share information for work purposes. No other law can force the Bank to share information, except the Official Information Act 1982, which you can find on the Official Information Act 1982 website. The Bank can share information under the Official Information Act 1982 if one of the special conditions is met. The Bank can also give information to the Government Statistician to help make official statistics or do research under the Data and Statistics Act 2022.
