168: District Court may make orders about bank note handling machines

You could also call this:

"The District Court can make decisions about machines that handle bank notes if they're used wrongly."

You can go to the District Court if you want to make a decision about a bank note handling machine. The court can make an order to forfeit, deactivate or destroy the machine. The court can also decide what to do with the machine in other ways. You can only make this order if the person using the machine did not follow the rules. They must have had a notice about this before, within the last six months, under section 165. If the court makes an order, it must say which machines it applies to. The machines then belong to the Crown and are looked after by the Official Assignee. The Official Assignee can sell, use or get rid of the machines as they see fit.
